After a stint with Larry Forgione in New York in France, New York and Los Angeles she also worked in Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. Guarnaschelli was eventually the chef in charge at Butter. Guarnaschelli defeated Cat Cora on Food Network's Iron Chef America 2007 Farmers Market Battle. Guarnaschelli has since been a judge on the program as well as in the 2011 season of The Next Iron Chef season four, where she finished third runner-up. In addition, she competed on Food Network's Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode but was eliminated from the contest. The fourth season of The Next Iron Chef, she started working as an assistant chef for Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian. In 2008, she became the host of The Food Network's The Cooking Loft with Alex Guarnaschelli in which she instructs an intimate group of students instructing them on how to reinvent classic dishes.
